Before becoming a therapist, I worked in schools as a teacher, where I saw how early experiences can shape how children see themselves and relate to the world. I saw how young people have many expectations put upon them and are expected to meet targets, achieve grades and navigate relationships.

Sometimes life feels really difficult, sometimes it can feel impossible, and this can become a real barrier to learning, with expectations becoming too difficult to meet.  This can lead to falling behind, low self esteem, school avoidance or changes in behaviour, attitude or temperament.

This understanding led me to retrain as a therapist, so I could support young people and the adults they grow into. As someone down to earth and with a sense humour, young people and adults alike, feel able to talk to me, in confidence, with no expectations and with absolutely no judgement.

My work is also shaped by personal insight into how impactful early childhood experiences can be later in life. My own lived experience of this, has deepened my understanding of the connection between; childhood experiences, our bodies and immune system, and our overall health and wellbeing, later in life as an adult.

I believe there is no such thing as you being 'too much' or 'not enough'. I know how it feels to believe, that not being good enough is just who you are and how the world views you too. It can become your identity, influencing the way you live your life and the choices you make. Even the idea of feeling and being anything different than 'not good enough', feels impossible. I now know, that it's not!

I hold an MSc in Counselling Children and Young People from the University of Northampton and I am a registered member of the BACP. I have specialist experience working with children and young people alongside my work with adults, and I remain committed to ongoing professional development.

I hold an up to date enhanced DBS certificate.
