Counselling for Teenagers & Young People

Being a young person today can feel overwhelming at times. There can be pressure from school, friendships, social media, expectations, or things happening at home, that are hard to make sense of.

Sometimes those feelings don’t have words yet, or they feel too big, confusing or difficult to share.

A space to be yourself

I provide a supportive and non-judgemental space where young people can begin to explore what’s going on for them at their own pace.

There is no pressure to talk about anything before they are ready. Sessions can be led by conversation, or through more creative approaches depending on what feels most comfortable.

What young people might be experiencing

Young people may come to counselling for many different reasons, including:

  • anxiety or feeling overwhelmed

  • low mood or depression

  • low self-esteem or lack of confidence

  • friendship or relationship difficulties

  • school-related stress or pressure

  • identity or sense of self

  • anger or strong emotions

  • difficult experiences from childhood

  • feeling “not quite themselves”

How counselling can help

Counselling can offer a space where young people feel heard, understood and accepted.

Over time, this can help them:

  • make sense of their thoughts and feelings

  • feel less alone

  • build confidence and self-understanding

  • develop healthier ways of coping

  • begin to feel more like themselves again

How I Work With Parents

If you are a parent or carer, it can be difficult to know how best to support your child.

I create a balance where young people feel safe and have their own confidential space, while also keeping parents appropriately informed and involved where needed.

Getting Started

If you are wondering whether counselling might help a young person in your life, you are very welcome to get in touch.

We can have an initial conversation to talk things through and see whether this feels like the right support.
